Terms and conditions
The short version. You can start free. Paid plans run month to month or year to year, and you can cancel any time. You own what you make and you’re responsible for it, including having the rights to pictures and music you upload. Check what DropClockAI writes before you publish it. Screens you publish can be seen by anyone with the link.
1. Who we are
thedropclock is a trading name of Mick Brennan, a sole trader based in Dublin, Ireland (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at info@thedropclock.com.
2. The service
thedropclock lets you build screens, such as launch countdowns and trivia rounds, in your browser and show them on TVs, projectors and live streams through a web link. Some features use DropClockAI, an assistant that researches topics on the web and writes content for you. We may improve, change or add features over time. If we remove something that is a main part of a paid plan, we’ll tell you first and you can cancel.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 to open an account. The service is designed for businesses, venues and creators.
- Give us accurate details and keep your email address up to date: it’s how you sign in.
- You’re responsible for activity on your account. Don’t share sign-in codes. If you think someone else has access, tell us straight away.
- We review new accounts before switching them on and may decline one without giving a reason.
4. Plans, prices and payment
- New accounts start with a free trial of 7 days from approval, with the limits shown on our pricing. When it ends, your screens pause until you choose a paid plan. We keep your work, and you can still sign in, download your data or delete your account.
- Paid plans have the prices and allowances shown on our pricing page when you upgrade. Showing your own name or logo on screen is included with paid plans only.
- Prices are in euro and exclude VAT. Where VAT applies, we add it at the correct rate.
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. Until card payment is available on the site, we invoice you and your plan starts when the invoice is paid.
- Plans renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- If we change a price, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you. It takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment is overdue, we may pause your screens until it’s paid.
5. DropClockAI credits
- Each plan includes a number of DropClockAI credits a month. Monthly credits reset on the 1st and don’t roll over.
- Credits you buy as a top-up, and credits we give you, don’t expire while your account is open. They have no cash value and can’t be transferred.
- A job that fails doesn’t use any credits.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel a paid plan at any time by emailing us or from your account page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your screens pause. We don’t refund part-used periods, except where the law says we must. You can delete your account at any time from the account page. That permanently deletes your screens, content and uploads.
7. Your content
- You own the content you create and upload. You give us permission to store it, process it and show it on your screens, only so we can run the service for you.
- You’re responsible for your content. You must have the right to use every picture, video link, piece of music and trademark you put on a screen. Playing music in a public venue may need a separate licence, for example from IMRO and PPI in Ireland.
- Anything you publish to a screen can be seen by anyone who has that screen’s link.
- Don’t publish anything that is unlawful, infringes someone else’s rights, is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or violent, or that impersonates someone or misleads people.
- We may remove content or pause screens that break these terms, or that we’re told infringe someone’s rights. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why.
8. Content written by DropClockAI
DropClockAI checks facts against sources on the web, but it can still make mistakes or leave things out. You’re responsible for reviewing what it writes before you publish it. Once you publish it, it’s your content under section 7.
9. Fair use
Don’t try to get around plan limits, access other people’s accounts or screens, overload or attack the service, scrape it, or resell it without our written agreement. Don’t use it to send spam or collect other people’s personal data.
10. Other brands
Countdowns and trivia often mention games, films, music and other products. thedropclock is independent and isn’t affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by their owners. Their names and trademarks belong to them.
11. Availability
We work hard to keep screens running around the clock, but we can’t promise the service will never be interrupted. Sometimes we’ll need to do maintenance, and things outside our control, like internet or hosting outages, can affect it. For anything business-critical, have a fallback ready.
12. Pausing or closing accounts
We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms, isn’t paid for, or puts the service or other users at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to fix things. If we close the whole service, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice, time to download your data, and a refund for any time you’ve paid for but can’t use.
13. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
- If you use thedropclock for business, we aren’t liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or indirect losses. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in that time, or €100 if that’s higher.
- If you’re a consumer, you have legal rights under Irish and EU consumer law, and these terms don’t affect them.
14. Your data
Our privacy notice explains what personal data we hold and why, and how to download or delete it.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you by email or when you next sign in, at least 30 days before it applies. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before it takes effect.
16. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Irish law, and the courts of Ireland deal with any dispute. If you’re a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you can also rely on the consumer laws and courts of your own country. Before anything formal, email us and we’ll do our best to sort it out.
